The story starts in 1925 when Grandpa bought the fisherman's
hut, a shack built from rushes and a few bricks on the shore
of a small lake which is now within the boundaries of
Parco
dell'Oglio Sud.
In 1926, Grandpa wedded Teresa and, together, they started
their adventure.
Grandpa went off fishing and Grandma cooked the fish and a
few other dishes according to traditional local recipes.
My father Giovanni was born in 1927 and, even as a small boy,
contributed to this life of the small country tavern as a
fishmonger.
In 1952, Giovanni married Bruna who helped Teresa in the kitchen;
years passed and needs changed: tables began to appear with
white tablecloths and napkins. The name of the tavern was
"Vino e pesce".
In 1960 the name was changed to "dal Pescatore".
Nadia and I got married in 1974 and we started our enterprise
with a honeymoon in France, in a quest to understand small
and great houses.
On our return, we changed the organisation of our establishment,
and menus included our quotation:
"Our cuisine is presented in respect of traditions, hoping
you will come to know the generous heart and life of our land".
That was in 1974.
